What This Calculator Does

Convert recipe amounts between different pan shapes and sizes.

It combines Original Shape, Original Size, Original Second Dimension, New Shape to estimate Scale Factor, Original Pan Area, New Pan Area.

Formula & Method

Pan area uses shape formulas: round A=\pi\left(\frac{d}{2}\right)^2, square A=s^2, rectangle A=l\cdot w. Recipe scale factor is Scale = \frac{A_{new}}{A_{original}}.

Notation used in the formulas: R = Scale Factor; x_{1} = Original Shape; x_{2} = Original Size; x_{3} = Original Second Dimension; x_{4} = New Shape; x_{5} = New Size; x_{6} = New Second Dimension.

Method summary: inputs are normalized to consistent units, core equations are evaluated, then secondary values are derived and rounded for display.

Use this calculator for quick scenario analysis. Start with baseline values, change one driver at a time, and compare how sensitive the results are to each input shown above.

Inputs Used
