What This Calculator Does

Calculate cubic yards of concrete needed for a slab or cylinder pour.

It combines Shape, Length, Width, Diameter to estimate Concrete Needed (with 10% waste), Volume (cubic feet), Volume without Waste.

Formula & Method

Slab volume is V_{cf}=L\cdot W\cdot d and cylinder volume is V_{cf}=\pi r^2 d with depth d in feet. Cubic yards are V_{cy}=\frac{V_{cf}}{27} and with waste V_{cy,total}=V_{cy}\left(1+\frac{w}{100}\right).

Notation used in the formulas: R = Concrete Needed (with 10\% waste); x_{1} = Shape; x_{2} = Length; x_{3} = Width; x_{4} = Diameter; x_{5} = Depth; x_{6} = Waste Factor.

Method summary: inputs are normalized to consistent units, core equations are evaluated, then secondary values are derived and rounded for display.

Use this calculator for quick scenario analysis. Start with baseline values, change one driver at a time, and compare how sensitive the results are to each input shown above.
