What This Calculator Does

Estimate annual CO2 emissions from electricity, natural gas, driving, and flights.

It combines Electricity Use, Electricity Emissions Factor, Natural Gas Use, Gas Emissions Factor to estimate Total Annual Emissions, Total (kg CO2), Total (lbs CO2).

Formula & Method

Total annual emissions are the sum of sources: CO2=12(Elec\cdot f_e)+12(Gas\cdot f_g)+12(Miles\cdot f_v)+(FlightHours\cdot f_f).

Notation used in the formulas: R = Total Annual Emissions; x_{1} = Electricity Use; x_{2} = Electricity Emissions Factor; x_{3} = Natural Gas Use; x_{4} = Gas Emissions Factor; x_{5} = Driving; x_{6} = Vehicle Emissions Factor.

Method summary: inputs are normalized to consistent units, core equations are evaluated, then secondary values are derived and rounded for display.

Use this calculator for quick scenario analysis. Start with baseline values, change one driver at a time, and compare how sensitive the results are to each input shown above.
