What This Calculator Does

Estimate survival probabilities and life expectancy with a simplified actuarial mortality model.

It combines Current Age, Target Age, Sex, Mortality Table to estimate Probability of Surviving to Target Age, Complete Life Expectancy, Curtate Expectation of Life.

Formula & Method

Core equations: Annual survival is p_x = 1 - q_x. Survival to age x+t is _tp_x = \prod_{j=0}^{t-1} p_{x+j}. Curtate expectation is e_x^{\circ} = \sum_{k=1}^{\infty} {}_kp_x and complete life expectancy is approximated as e_x \approx e_x^{\circ} + 0.5.

Notation used in the formulas: R = Probability of Surviving to Target Age; x_{1} = Current Age; x_{2} = Target Age; x_{3} = Sex; x_{4} = Mortality Table.

Method summary: inputs are normalized to consistent units, core equations are evaluated, then secondary values are derived and rounded for display.

Use this calculator for quick scenario analysis. Start with baseline values, change one driver at a time, and compare how sensitive the results are to each input shown above.
